Mute Swan | Cygnus olor | Knoppsvane
Rarity: Hot4/V4
The Mute Swan is a relatively common bird in Norway. It is the most common swan, and is often seen in parks and places where people feed them. Can be quite aggressive, especially during breeding season.
The way to distinguish the male from the female is the size of the body and the knob on top of their beak. The male is a little larger in size and has a bigger knob on their beak.
Mute Swans are relatively easy to photograph since they aren't very shy, due to them mostly being located in parks and trails around lakes, where lots of people walk.
