Catch 'em all!, Bird edition is inspired by the pokémon series where the main character tries to find every single Pokémon. This is my take on that series, where i try to catch(take a picture) of every bird encountered in Norway
Rarity explained:
Rarity, which is written with letters and numbers are ways of indicating how frequent one may see the given bird. This is what the numbers and letters mean:
Ho: Nesting resident
Ht: Nesting migratory bird
Hot: Nesting bird - some overwinter, some migrate
Ho(t): Nesting bird - Most overwinter, a few migrate
H(o)t: Nesting bird - A few overwinter, most migrate
V = Can be seen in winter
1: Very rare, 1-10 pair
2: Rare. 10-100 pair
3: Few or local, 100-1000 pair
4: Less commong, 1 000-10 000 pair
5: Relatively common, 10 000 - 100 000 pair
6: Common, 100 000 - 1 000 000 pair
7: Very numerous > 1 million pair
?: Unknown status
S: Rare
*: Annual guest in small/smaller numbers: Nesting has not, or only exceptionally, been ascertained.
**: Only one or a few discoveries annually, or most years
***: Only one or a few discoveries every decade, or even fewer
F: Findings of birds that have certainly or probably escaped from captivity, or that are otherwise unclear with regard to spontaneous behavior
-: Not encountered in Norway
Example:
Hot4/V4/+F = 1000-10 000 nesting bird pairs that can be seen in the winter, with some possibly escaped captive individuals.
V1-2/S* = 1-100 pairs that can be seen in the winter/Rare encounters in small numbers.
S***/F = Findings include only escaped captive individuals (possibly uncertain status)
S***/+F = Findings include both spontaneous occurrence and escaped captive individuals, (possibly uncertain status)
